Meet the 2019 Credit Union Cherry Blossom Race Ambassadors!

The Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run has named four runners to be this year’s “Credit Union Cherry Blossom Race Ambassadors.” These individuals will be telling the world all about their race experiences on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and their blogs. Congratulations to this year's ambassadors, and thanks to everyone who submitted an application - it was very difficult to choose! Read all about our new Ambassadors below!

Ryan Arey

Ryan is originally from Michigan and has been in Bethesda, MD for the past year and a half. She ran her first half marathon in college and since then has ran 3 marathons, over 30 half marathons, and numerous other races, with the 10 miler being her favorite distance. She has also paced races and loves helping others reach their running goals! Her goal is to run a race in every state! Ryan is an avid cyclist and loves exploring different trails in the DC area!

Ryan broke her foot (not while running) at the beginning of summer so she was forced to take a running hiatus but is excited to begin really training again and to run the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler in April! Feel free to follow her on Instagram @ryn823.

Rachel Capone

Rachel is from Richmond, Virginia and found her love for running after being a soccer player most of her life and unfortunately tearing both her right and left ACL while playing the sport. After giving up soccer, she used that same passion she had for soccer and turned to running. She has been running for about 4 years and recently completed her first marathon (Marine Corps Marathon) this year with a negative split run and finish of 4:02! Rachel ran the CUCB in 2018 and it became one of her favorite races! She loves traveling for races and meeting new friends in the running community. Follow her on Instagram at @rach_runs_rva.

Mayra Figueroa

Mayra is a native Washingtonian and the co-creator of Leap of Fitness, a brand whose core mission is to prove that anyone, anywhere can enjoy fitness. True to the brand’s values related to challenging yourself, Mayra set out to run her first marathon in 2018. Although Mayra has completed 11 half-marathons and numerous 5K races, she had not previously contemplated running a full marathon. Balancing her commitments as a Project Manager, aunt, and mom to two adorable Shih Tzu’s, she trained hard during the summer amidst DC’s hot and rainy weather. In November, she achieved her goal and became a marathoner! Next year, Mayra envisions combining her love for traveling and fitness by signing up for marathons abroad. In the meantime, she hopes to continue to inspire others through her fitness transformation, which she documents via daily motivational posts on Instagram. Follow her @leap_of_fitness.

Tarrence Thrash

Tarrence is originally from Prichard, Alabama but currently lives in Southeast Washington, DC. He works as a Budget Analyst for the Federal Government and is a Navy Veteran. Tarrence started casually running when friends invited him to a Wednesday run with District Running Collective. Since then he and running have been in a "complicated" relationship. His first official race was the 2017 Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile, and since then he has run a handful of half marathons and marathon relays. Tarrence enjoys reading, traveling the world and meeting new people. You can follow him on IG/SC @tantonioiv.
