About Packet Pick-up and the Health and Fitness Expo

Pick up your race packet and t-shirt at the Health and Fitness Expo on Friday, April 3 or Saturday, April 4 (reminder: there is no packet pickup on race day). The Health and Fitness Expo will also feature free informative clinics with a variety of speakers (details will be posted here when they become available) to help you perform your best on race day, the latest shoes and gear from Asics and other vendors to fill all your running gear needs, and a chance to pick up official Credit Union Cherry Blossom apparel and merchandise. Race packet pick-up is only for confirmed entrants, although non-participants are invited to attend the Health and Fitness Expo. There is no late registration, and NO PACKET PICKUP ON RACE DAY.

Getting There

By Metro

The National Building Museum is directly opposite the Judiciary Square Metro stop on the Red Line. However, the Metro exit just opposite the National Building Museum is closed for repair, and the opposite exit from the Judiciary Square station is approximately three blocks from the National Building Museum. You may want to consider exiting at the Gallery Place station on the Yellow line, which is about equidistant to the available Judiciary Square exit (plus those arriving on the Yellow or Green lines will not have to transfer to the Red Line). Although Metro will not be available on Sunday morning for transportation to the race, Metro will be operating on Saturday during the Expo hours. Metro use is strongly encouraged; parking is difficult to find.

Bike Valet Service

This year as part of our greening initiative we are providing a free “Bike Valet” service at the Health & Fitness Expo. Simply ride your bike to the expo and leave it with the representatives from Two Wheel Valet. They will guard your bike to ensure that it is safe while you pick-up your bib, shop our vendors and enjoy the festivities. It’s like a coat check for bikes! The bike valet parking is located on the east lawn (4th St. side) of the National Building Museum.

There is limited on-street parking in the vicinity of the National Building Museum. Available parking will be influenced greatly by other activities taking place nearby (the Verizon Center is very close). Parking meters are enforced on both Friday and Saturday (at rates up to $2.00 an hour), so bring lots of quarters if you plan to use on-street parking. Paid parking is available in nearby commercial parking lots. Rates are likely to be in the $15-$20 range. Be sure to check the hours of the commercial lots. Some of them close early. Think Metro.

What's Inside

The Health & Fitness Expo will be open to the public during packet pick-up from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, April 3, and from 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 4. There will be a Credit Union Cherry Blossom Official Merchandise store featuring Credit Union Cherry Blossom apparel, as well as hats, mugs, posters and other commemorative items for sale. The Health & Fitness Expo will also feature booths sponsored by running-related companies and organizations, including apparel manufacturers and retailers; nutritional product suppliers; other major races; running clubs; and various charities. Finally, there will be a variety of speakers and autographs with top names in the running world.

  • A complete list of Expo Exhibitors and their booth numbers will be posted here when it becomes available.
  • The Clinic Speaker Schedule will be posted here when it becomes available.

What's Outside: The Kids Run on Saturday Morning

The Credit Union Cherry Blossom Kids Run will take place outside the National Building Museum on Saturday morning between 8:00 A.M. and noon. Heats for ages 4-10 will begin at 9:30 A.M. Pre-registration is required. Click Here for details.

Bib and MyLaps Bib Tag Pick-up

Bib and MyLaps Bib Tag pick-up will take place in rooms located on the second floor of the National Building Museum; T-shirt pick-up will take place in the Great Hall on the first floor. Volunteers will direct you to each location.

In order to avoid overcrowding and long lines at the National Building Museum, if possible please pick up your bib number according to the following schedule, based on your last name:
Friday, April 3
A-F 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
G-M 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M
N-Z 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
Open 6:00 P.M. to 7:45 P.M. (sharp)

Saturday, April 4
A-F 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
G-M 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M
N-Z 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.
Open 3:00 P.M. to 4:45 P.M. (sharp)

We understand that personal scheduling limitations may mean you must come at a different time. However, if a decent percentage of entrants adhere to this schedule, it will ease the flow for everyone.

Picking Up Someone Else's Packet

You may have someone else pick-up your bib number on Friday or Saturday at the Health and Fitness Expo at the National Building Museum. The person getting your number will need a note from you (a copy of an email is fine), ID for himself or herself, and will be required to provide his or her email address and sign a statement that the number will be used only by you. If the number is transferred, you will be denied entry into future editions of the race. We regret being heavy-handed here, but unauthorized bib transfers represent a real scoring and security issue for us. PLEASE DO NOT send the note authorizing someone to pick up your packet to us at the Credit Union Cherry Blossom. The person picking up your packet should bring the note (a printout of an email is fine) with them to the Expo!

Upgrade Shirts

Runners who pre-ordered the Asics performance upgrade shirts can pick them up at the Health and Fitness Expo on Friday or Saturday. They will not be available at the race site on Sunday. Upgrade orders (including sizes) are indicated in the email with your confirmation. Remember Asics upgrade shirts replace the standard participant shirt; you will not receive both. If you did not purchase an upgrade in advance, you may purchase one at the CUCB Official Merchandise booth.

T-Shirt Exchange

There will be a t-shirt exchange located on the first floor of the National Building Museum where participants will have an opportunity to exchange either their cotton participant shirt or their performance upgrade shirt if it is the wrong size based on availability. We do not guarantee that all sizes will be available but last year the t-shirt exchange worked quite well.

Donate Your Used Running Shoes

The Credit Union Cherry Blossom is proud to announce that we will be helping the MORE Foundation Group collect donations of your used running shoes at the Health and Fitness Expo again this year. Donating shoes keeps them out of the landfill and the proceeds from the shoes help MORE plant thousands of trees each year, which offsets carbon in the atmosphere. With every pair of gently used athletic shoes, MORE is able to plant one ton of carbon grounding trees and train poor farmers in sustainable agroforestry. Last year we collected nearly 200 pairs of shoes at the expo! To donate your shoes, please bring them to the Sustainability Booth, which will be located near the t-shirt pick-up area. Learn more here:

Happy Hour Reception

On Friday afternoon there will be beer available at a special reception presented by 26.2 Brew in the expo hall at 5:00 P.M., lasting as long as the beverages hold up.

Recycling at the Expo

The General Services Administration (GSA), will be assisting our sustainability efforts in making the expo at the National Building Museum a green event by helping to maximize recycling and composting and minimizing trash to the landfill.

There will be no packet pick-up and no t-shirt pick-up at the race site on Sunday, April 5.
